Cranes & Winches

The grillage lifting cranes are a pair of purpose built fixed jib cranes which are bolted to the existing bridge deck. The cranes cantilever approximately 6.4 metres out from the end of the partially erected bridge deck. This is a sufficient distance to enable the new deck grillage to be hoisted vertically from a barge in the river and then bolted to the end of the previously erected deck section.
